If my skin is very thin, will the implant become visible through it?
Implant visibility is not caused solely by thin skin. However, placing an implant that is too large or too high beneath very thin skin can make it visible. A detailed consultation with a plastic surgeon experienced in rhinoplasty is therefore essential.
Can I have only alar reduction or only raise the nasal bridge?
Yes. If only one procedure is needed, such as alar reduction or bridge augmentation, it can be performed on its own. REAL does not recommend excessive surgery and aims for the most natural result through only the procedures that are necessary.
How long does it take for swelling to disappear completely?
Swelling varies with the individual and the surgical method. Noticeable bruising and swelling generally subside about one week after surgery. Most swelling resolves within one month, and the remainder usually disappears completely after two to three months.
Can I choose between closed and open rhinoplasty?
If closed rhinoplasty is specifically required, the surgeon’s experience and skill become even more important. Be sure to have a detailed consultation with a doctor who has extensive rhinoplasty experience.
