NEVER AGAIN
NEVER AGAIN
Breast reduction is not simply about making the breasts smaller; it creates a balanced, proportionate shape tailored to you.
Understand the condition precisely
Before REAL breast revision surgery, the original breast shape, areas of discomfort, and available surgical methods are examined, confirmed, and discussed.
Meticulous treatment design
Because revision requires a more detailed design, the plan is checked and refined again before surgery.
Treatment by highly skilled specialists
A plastic surgeon skilled in breast and body contouring and an anesthesiology specialist manage the operation. REAL never substitutes another doctor: an anesthesiology or anesthesiology-and-pain specialist provides one-to-one management throughout surgery.
Dependable recovery and maintenance
After surgery, the medical team monitors recovery and provides swelling-reduction laser care and other support to help patients recover promptly.

How the procedure is performed
01
Periareolar incision
Advantages
Leaves minimal visible scarring, limits damage to breast tissue, and helps preserve nipple sensation
Disadvantages
The amount of reduction is limited
Key point
Suitable for patients who need a relatively small reduction.
02
Inverted-T incision
This method permits the greatest degree of breast reduction. It can also adjust areola size and is the most widely used technique worldwide.
The incision is longer and leaves a scar. Nipple sensation may decrease.
Suitable for patients who need a substantial reduction
03
Vertical incision
Allows sufficient removal of breast tissue and leaves a smaller scar than the inverted-T method.
The scar is larger than with a periareolar incision.
Suitable for patients seeking a large reduction with the least possible scarring.

When breast reduction may be needed

A medical system certified by the Ministry of Health and Welfare
In the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare's 2016 certification assessment of institutions serving international patients, REAL was recognized for service quality and patient safety. REAL Plastic Surgery provides a systematic medical framework certified against more than 120 rigorous standards, including patient safety, fire safety, and surgical and procedural management.
Preoperative examination
Preoperative testing is essential to surgical safety. A chest X-ray, electrocardiogram, and blood tests are necessary steps for safe anesthesia. The results help assess liver, heart, and kidney function and identify lung disease, anemia, or other concerns. These examinations determine whether the patient's condition is suitable for surgery and general anesthesia and confirm their current health and previous examination findings.
Surgery
Before surgery, you will complete an informed consent form and receive detailed postoperative instructions. You will then have a final consultation with the lead surgeon to review the plan before the operation begins. The procedure follows a multidisciplinary approach, with plastic surgeons from the relevant specialties and continuous real-time monitoring by a dedicated anesthesia team.
Postoperative recovery and inpatient care
After surgery, every patient is closely monitored in the recovery room until stable. Hospital admission may be required when necessary. Anesthesiologists, nurses, and medical staff monitor the patient throughout, while REAL's safety system remains fully active to support a sound postoperative recovery.
Care after discharge
To reduce postoperative swelling and promote a faster recovery after discharge, REAL provides a personalized recovery program with attentive follow-up care.

Questions and answers
Questions and answers
Can the breasts become larger again after breast reduction?
Surgery performed before breast development is complete carries a higher chance of requiring another procedure; surgery after full development is less likely to need revision. Normal changes such as weight gain, aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and weaning can still alter breast size and shape.
Can I breastfeed after breast reduction?
Breast reduction does not necessarily prevent breastfeeding. However, milk is produced by glandular tissue and travels through ducts to the nipple. Removing tissue directly beneath the nipple can create internal scar tissue and may increase the risk of severe mastitis, so surgery is generally recommended after breastfeeding is complete.
Will there be a large scar?
Because the skin must be incised, some scarring is unavoidable. Careful scar placement and consistent scar care help it fade. Once the wound has largely healed, scar ointment may be used, and laser treatment can begin about three months after surgery for gradual improvement.
How much can the breasts be reduced?
The achievable reduction varies with each patient's breast condition. The aim is the greatest safe reduction without compromising function.
