Whitening works especially well for dietary yellowing and tobacco or tea stains. For severe tetracycline staining or fluorosis, consult the dentist about combining treatment with DSD ultrathin porcelain veneers.
For periodontal health, REAL comfortable scaling is recommended every six to twelve months to help prevent calculus from reattaching and reduce the risk of gum recession.
For 48 hours after whitening, teeth are temporarily more susceptible to staining. Avoid strong coffee, red wine, cola, soy sauce, and other darkly pigmented foods or drinks.
Some sensitive patients may notice mild reactions to very hot or cold temperatures for one to two days after whitening or scaling. This is normal; brush with lukewarm water during this period.
After scaling and whitening, maintain good oral hygiene and use dental floss with REAL's recommended oral-care products to keep teeth clean and breath fresh for longer.
