Disclose all long-term medicines, inhalers, and anticoagulants so the dentist can determine whether medication needs adjustment before treatment.
For periodontal health, comfortable scaling is recommended every six to twelve months to help prevent calculus from reattaching and reduce the risk of gum recession.
For 40 hours after whitening or scaling, teeth are temporarily more susceptible to staining. Avoid strong coffee, red wine, cola, soy sauce, and other darkly pigmented foods or drinks.
Some sensitive patients may notice mild reactions to hot or cold for one to two days after scaling. This is normal; brush with lukewarm water during this period.
